Scientific Foundations
The QOL.Q is among the most established of consumer outcome
measures in the MR/DD field. The norms are based on a sample of 552
individuals with disabilities who were being served through community
programs. The internal and test-retest reliability of the total score
was estimated at .90 and .87, respectively. Construct validity was
obtained by showing that independent living is associated with high
QOL.Q scores. The QOL.Q was correlated at .57 with the Lifestyle
Satisfaction Scale, another measure of consumer outcome.
Cross-cultural validity of the instrument was reported in studies
conducted the United Kingdom and in New Zealand..
